In addition, Farm Water Works! is a message that is carried to schools through the ongoing development of curriculum materials for teachers, student-targeted school supplies and our interactive web site.

CFWC is committed to developing comprehensive educational materials that are consistent with the standards of the California State Frameworks for education. In 2001 we debuted our eight-lesson unit, "Cotton and the Water Connection," which has been well-received by teachers around the state. The unit includes standards correlations with each lesson. Click here to learn more about the unit.

Each year CFWC participates in such events as the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom Annual Conference, Summer Ag Institute and the PASE Garden in Every School Conference to provide educators with the latest information on agricultural water use.

CFWC also sponsors an annual statewide poster contest during Water Awareness Month in May. The contest is open to fourth grade students throughout the state. Winning posters are featured on the CFWC web site in May and winning artists receive ribbons and U.S. Savings Bonds.

We also regularly participate in farm days and water education fairs. Hundreds of students learn about farm water use at such events as the Get WET Festival at Folsom Dam, Project W.E.T. SPLASH Festival, and Salinas Farm Day among others.

As part of our ongoing public education efforts, CFWC also conducts tours custom tailored tours for groups such as our annual water tour for California Farm Bureau Federation's Leadership Farm Bureau class. Call CFWC at 916/391-5030 for more information on our tour programs.

State report's recipe for a restored delta:  More water

Coalition viewpoint---This blog is a mish-mash of personal opinions, falsehoods and recycled rhetoric.  The State Water Board, in releasing its staff report, did not identify water exports as the "real culprit" for the current Delta conditions.  Quite the opposite...the Board went to great lengths to explain that the legislative directive for conducting the report restricted the study to only look at water flows and no other factors.  The Board also stated that the report is non-binding.  To continually blame San Joaquin Valley farmers for the ills of the Delta is irresponsible and damages effort to restore the Delta's environment and provide a reliable water supply to farmers and 25 million Californians.
