Yes, split IID in two

Coalition viewpoint...Where is the subsidy?  The blogger exhibits a lack of understanding of the ongoing operations at IID.  The infrastructure that delivers the water to create the energy was built by the water side of IID.  The energy department is simply paying the expense to create the power that is then delivered to its users.  The IID directors, elected by the people, periodically review this arrangement to provide the best service to the customers of IID.

Earth:  Lawsuit over Kern Water Bank worth watching

Coalition viewpoint...The Kern Water Bank was not built with taxpayer money.  Water users provided the necessary funding to construct the water bank.  The State decided to transfer ownership/operation to local water interests and the result has been a flexibility in managing California's water supplies that has benefited all interests in our state.

South Sutter Water District transfer approved

Coalition viewpoint...strict guidelines govern whether applications for water transfers, especially those moving through the Delta, are acceptable.  This transfer went through that review process and received approval to move forward.  Not only does the area of origin and those receiving the water benefit, but also the Delta environment as a result of a portion of that water remaining in the Delta. Transfers continue to provide a flexibility that is needed in managing California's water supplies.

Water use study shifts direction

Environmentalists still have concerns over groundwater use

Coalition viewpoint...Each step of the current study is being carefully taken.  Questions are being asked and answers are being sought.  It is unfortunate that some special interests have already formed opinions before those answers are developed.  The ongoing study by NHI and GCID deserves to move forward.

Our View: Delay, if not drown, big water bond

Water Bond DOA

Coalition viewpoint...Such viewpoints fail to fully recognize what the water bond would have accomplished and the consequences of not approving it now.  All of California has benefited from those of the past who looked into the future and saw how a reliable source of water would improve the lifestyles of all through a growing economy.  That growth is now jeopardized because of an aging infrastructure.  It is not just the farm workers losing jobs and the land going unplanted, it is off-the-farm jobs that will also suffer, from truck drivers to grocery clerks to dock workers.

State report's recipe for a restored delta:  More water

Coalition viewpoint---This blog is a mish-mash of personal opinions, falsehoods and recycled rhetoric.  The State Water Board, in releasing its staff report, did not identify water exports as the "real culprit" for the current Delta conditions.  Quite the opposite...the Board went to great lengths to explain that the legislative directive for conducting the report restricted the study to only look at water flows and no other factors.  The Board also stated that the report is non-binding.  To continually blame San Joaquin Valley farmers for the ills of the Delta is irresponsible and damages effort to restore the Delta's environment and provide a reliable water supply to farmers and 25 million Californians.
