He falsely claims San Joaquin Valley cotton totaled 900,000 acres in 2008 when only 275,000 acres were planted and this year the number will be even less.

The San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority filed suit in federal court today (June 15) over the issuance of a biological opinion by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). The lawsuit contends that the federal agency failed to conduct required environmental review and that it used pseudo scienceto develop measures meant to protect fish. "Federal laws governing environmental review apply to everyone," said Dan Nelson, executive director of the San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority. "The National Marine Fisheries Service needs to follow the rules like everyone else when they make decisions that have such enormous impacts."
